My Birthday

Spring brings the season of birthdays to our house.

My birthday on April 20th signals the beginning of this special season.

Melissa and Molly worked hard to decorate the house with 'Happy Birthday' signs
We spent a quiet day at home (just how I like it). The family worked on various projects while I did a bit of cross stitch, and spent time chatting with various friends who sent me birthday messages via texts, phone calls, Skype, Google+, and the CollegePlus forums.

By far, the most unique post I saw, was this one:

Grandpa Jim and I
Melissa posted this picture of me (age 3) on Google+ as a way to reminiscence over the years gone by.

Ever since we were kids, my parents have had a tradition of allowing the birthday kid to pick her favorite meal. My mom has made everything from casseroles to chicken nuggets for birthday meals. This year I chose an old standby, one that has been my birthday meal for the past couple of years: meatballs with barbecue sauce, rice, and peas.

After dinner, we all gathered in the living room to open presents. My family is great at looking for things that I'll love. Among other things, I received a new skirt, curling iron, and Michael's gift card.

As an evening activity, we ate Chocolate Eclair cake and watched Facing the Giants. This is a classic movie in the Weber house and we can quote most of the lines. No matter how many times I see this movie, I am continually inspired to dedicate my entire life to serving Christ, praising Him when good things and bad things happen.

Although I absolutely dread being the center of attention, I really enjoyed my birthday! The best part was the time to connect and chat with my cousins, grandparents, and friends. They made my birthday extremely special.

This is one of four birthday posts coming this week.

And no, they aren't all about me :P
